Below, we’ll walk you through the process of understanding and purchasing the two types of prescriptions available through our platform: Cortina Custom Compounds and pharmacy prescriptions.
Types of Prescriptions
Cortina Custom Compounds
Our specially formulated compounds are designed to provide optimal results for common skin concerns. These prescriptions are crafted with carefully selected ingredients and shipped directly to your door for your convenience.

- Secure Online Purchase: Pay securely for these prescriptions directly within your Cortina account.
How to Purchase Medications Through Cortina:
- Log in to your Cortina account.
- Navigate to the Consultation + Rx tab from the navigation menu.
- Review your prescribed medication listed as Available for purchase under your Treatment Plan.
- Complete your purchase directly through our platform.
- You will receive an email with tracking information once the order has shipped.
Pharmacy Prescriptions
Your dermatologist may prescribe a medication that can be fulfilled at a pharmacy of your choice. These medications are not purchased through Cortina, so you will need to contact your pharmacy to complete the transaction.

- Your Choice of Pharmacy: Select a pharmacy that’s convenient for you.
- Separate Purchase Process: Payment and pickup are handled directly with the pharmacy.
How to Fill Your Pharmacy Prescription:
- Log in to your Cortina account.
- Navigate to the Consultation + Rx tab from the navigation menu.
- Review your prescribed medication listed under the sent to local pharmacy section of your Treatment Plan.
- Contact your pharmacy for information on pickup and payment options.
Refills and Renewals
Refills
When you run out of your medication supply, you may be eligible for a refill if your prescription includes refills.
- Cortina Custom Compounds: Log in to your Cortina account to re-purchase your medication. The medications available for purchase will be listed on the Consultation + Rx page. Re-purchasing will become available 2 weeks before the next renewal date.
- Pharmacy Prescriptions: Contact your pharmacy directly to request a refill.
Renewals
If you have used up all your refills, you will need to consult with your physician to get the medication re-prescribed, if necessary.
- For Concierge Members with Consultations Less Than a Year Old: As a Concierge member, you have the ability to message your physician at any time. Log in to the Cortina app, navigate to the Messaging page, and request a renewal from your doctor. The physician may ask follow-up questions before renewing the medication.
- For Consultations Over a Year Old or Non-Concierge Users: Consultations expire after a year. If it’s been longer than a year or you haven’t signed up for the Concierge membership, you will need to start a new consultation to have the medication re-prescribed. You can start a new consultation from the Account Home screen.
